Get to Know the Office: Meet Claudia Duncan!

Here at the CCO, we encourage students to take full advantage of the professional development opportunities found on campus. Some of our most valuable resources are our Peer Consultants! All of our Peer Consultants are Purdue undergraduate students who have a keen eye for resumes, cover letters and interview advice. You can find these friendly faces in Young Hall, Room 132 during our Drop-in hours, Monday - Friday from 10am-4pm.

Before you sit down with one of these great individuals, we want to introduce you to them! Next up is Peer Consultant, Claudia Duncan.

What year are you and what are you studying?

Sophomore in Data Science with a minor in Computer Science

How long have you been working at the CCO?

This is my first year working at the CCO, and I love it!

What are your responsibilities? What does a Peer Consultant do?

As a Peer Consultant, I'm available during Drop-ins. I help students with resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, myCCO accounts, job search strategies, and more! Outside of Drop-ins, I present at outreach events as well.

What have you learned about resumes and professionalism through this position?

I've learned more about resumes than I ever thought I would, and knowing how to design a strong resume is such a valuable skill. Being a Peer Consultant has greatly increased my knowledge about the job search process. Through guiding and advising other Purdue students along their career search journey, I learn simultaneously and feel even more prepared myself.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love reviewing resumes! I'm a very analytical, detail-oriented person, so I enjoy checking over resumes and giving advice on how to improve. I also have a passion for helping others, so it's amazing when a student leaves a resume review feeling more confident in their resume and ultimately themselves.

What is one piece of advice you would give Purdue students?

Don't be afraid to ask for help! Whether you're unsure about a minor detail on your cover letter or if you're considering a change of major, the CCO has so many resources for you. Everyone at the Center for Career Opportunities is here to help and wants you to succeed, so please come in and see us!

Stop by the CCO during or Drop-in hours to see Claudia and meet our other awesome Peer Consultants! Receive free advice on how to best strengthen your resume, cover letter or interviewing skills.
